We have been speaking with Nikhola Haley from Nikki Lou’s Little Yogis in Keighley. She told us a little more about herself and what her business is about. You can find her on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/nikkiLouslittleyogis/ and on Twitter https://twitter.com/Nikkilouslittl1
Where did you get the idea for your business?
I was a teaching assistant and I have always loved yoga so an opportunity of a children’s yoga course came up in November 2016 and as soon as I started it I knew I wanted to teach more. I left my job as a teaching assistant this summer to concentrate on Nikki Lou’s little yogis. My daughters helped me choose the names.
What was your mission at the start?
To teach yoga to all children in a fun, inclusive environment where they feel happy and secure. Parents are welcome to stop and watch too. Yoga is so beneficial and that is why I want to start Children on their yoga journey from 3-year-old upwards
What is your background?
Education is my background. I am nursery nurse trained and have a degree in education. I have been a teaching assistant from 2000 in Primary education. I also am a keen Yogini myself. I am also a student Adult hatha yoga teacher.
How many employees do you have?
Just me at the moment although my daughter is also doing her training so may be in the future she will work alongside me.
What services /products do you offer?
Children’s yoga classes at Yoga Wellbeing in Keighley
I can go into schools and other settings to deliver yoga sessions for an after/before school club, ½ a day, a full day and this can be curriculum based or mindfulness and relaxation
Family yoga session
How do you advertise your business and does this differ from how you advertise your products/services?
I use Facebook, I have a website www.nikkilouslittleyogis.co.uk and use Instagram and twitter. Your Kids Directory service is great too and I will in the future upgrade to advertise my business better. I advertise everything the same.
What are your goals?
I am currently studying a teen yoga course to extend my knowledge further with a hope to going into secondary schools too. I would love to write some kids yoga books in the future as well as teaching my local classes.
Do you work locally or nationally?
I work locally in the Keighley area.
What is unique about your business?
Children’s yoga is quite new so there are not many people teaching it now. I imagine things will change especially as mindfulness is becoming popular. I like to write my own plans and have a good imagination. I also like to include the children’s interests in my classes.
Does your company help the community?
I am willing to do voluntary sessions for local uniform groups and I have done some charity sessions and will donate gift certificates for raffles.
